Account and application configuration

Applies instantly and is saved to your account. Colour-vision themes keep status colours distinguishable; the app never relies on colour alone.

Add Spectrum to your home screen or desktop to launch it full-screen, like a native app — it keeps working offline for the parts already loaded.

Film and TV are built in. Add custom types (e.g. Home Videos, Music, Trailers) — each becomes a Library tab and holds titles with video files attached directly.

Used for movie search, UK titles, BBFC ratings, and cover art. Free key at themoviedb.org/settings/api.

Fetches IMDB user ratings and vote counts to complement TMDB data. Free key at omdbapi.com.

Caps the total outbound bitrate of simultaneous streams against your broadband's upload speed. When the budget is full, a new stream is cleanly denied instead of everyone buffering. 0 = unlimited (default).

Mb/s

Headroom — fraction of the cap actually used, leaving slack for bitrate spikes on high-motion scenes. 0.85 = admit up to 85% of the cap. Ignored when unlimited.

Caps how many videos may be converted for playback (HEVC → H.264) at the same time, protecting the CPU/GPU. When every slot is busy, starting another is cleanly denied with "try again shortly" — playback that streams the original video untouched is never capped. 0 = unlimited (default).

slots

Queue depth for deferred background work (the shared job worker). A point-in-time snapshot, not a live meter — refresh to update.

The transcode cascade auto-detects which GPU encoder to use on the first play. If a backend's driver fails to initialise, it's recorded as broken and skipped from then on. After installing a driver, rebuilding the container, or changing hardware, reset this so backends are re-tried from scratch on the next play.
